Waves Scarf!

Finally!! This scarf/shawl was started back in December and was put on hold because the pattern called for 6 skeins of yarn, but after checking around on Ravelry 6 skeins wasn't nearly enough!! I ordered more yarn and ended up using 10 skeins!! Then I had to frog back 20 some odd rows because I miscrossed a cable! But it's finally finished and I couldn't be happier if I didn't have to knit 2x2 ribbing for quite a while! *grin* I love the final results, but I don't think I'll be fooling around with 24 stitch cables anytime soon :)

Wave Scarf
Pattern: Waves Scarf
Yarn: Cadena from Knit Picks
Needles: Knit Picks Options size 9
Notes: pattern calls for 6 skeins, but I ended up using 10! Check around on Ravelry before making for yourself to make sure you get enough yarn.

New year, new Etsy shop!!

I am still alive!! I have been so busy, and I just opened my new etsy shop. I don't have any knitted items on there yet, all the most recent projects that I have been knitting were gifts for others. But I did overcome my fear of double pointed needles and I have completed my first sock!! I am beginning to knit the other sock, my left foot is now warm, but my right foot is still cold, I need to hurry up.

Here is the start of the second one. When they are done, I will take a photo of both on my feet and post them!
Click here to go to my etsy shop!

I have also been working on my website!! I have been so swamped and working full time, it seems I never have any free time. Please feel free to check out my website and etsy shop. But I have to warn you that I am having Browser compatibility issues with my website and I have no idea how to fix it. It looks beautiful when viewed in Firefox, but on Internet Explorer, it looks wretched! Anyone have a website of their own and have any idea how to fix it?

I have also joined Ravelry, I haven't had a lot of time to really jump deep into that whole thing, but I opened an account and posted a few things there! Check me out if you have Ravelry, my name is knit-girl.

see you soon!

Hulllooo!

Hi!

It's me, your sucky Blog Mom. OK, so I'm not much of a Mom. BUT I'm getting all As in school, if that means anything. :)

I have been thinking about you all, though... How would you like a forum, where you could all talk to each other? I'm on a different forum for designers, and I love it there. (No, it has NOTHING to do with my absence, here!!) If it's something you guys want, let me know. I can get it set up in no time. Personally, I think it's just what we need to tie us together.

Otherwise? LOTS of school work. And I have a profile in the current issue of Black Purl Magazine, which was FUN! I got 1000 yards of red wool from London from an adorable man right before the New Year, and I'm trying to decide what to do with that. And I've been slooowwwwwly working on a new sweater on #3 US needles. I get about an inch done per class (per week,) then that's all I do.

Anyhoo, that's it for now. I may be able to post some project pics tonight. Right now? I had to take Marne on an early vet run, since she was sick. It was just a urinary tract infection, which is something we can both handle. Now? I'm drinking margaritas and trying to avoid school work. It's raining, I have Felicity and Pretender CDs, and knitting sounds just like the thing!

Chicabean Hat Pattern

Hi all! I just got done with my second hat pattern. It's called the Chicabean Hat. I love it! Cables and lace is definitely bad a$$! :) Initially I worked out the pattern for this hat so it would matched a scarf I made for my sister. Little did I realize how much I’d love the hat! I really love the combination of the cables and lace and how the decreases worked out.

Even with writing and working out the pattern this only took me two days. I think I’ll make myself one in red. I like that it’s warm but not too warm and I think it will look as good in cotton as wool.

The brown one is knit in KnitPicks Swish Superwash

The green one is Cascade 220

If you're interested in knitting it the pattern is available for free.

Hi Guys!

Hi guys!

If it seems as I've abandoned you as blog mom, I don't blame you! I'm struggling along with school and marathon training, and mucking up both. Blogging has been kind of an afterthought, I'm sorry to say, but I'll try to pick up the slack.

NOW, if you're on the blog and not the webring, or on the webring and not on the blog, please let me know. I need to integrate the two.

I did get in some knitting this weekend, and I'm working on the Mrs. Beeton wrist warmers from a back issue of Knitty. And I lolled around the house and finally finished this painting, on Sunday afternoon.

And I'm just trying not to panic, and to get all the stuff done that needs to be done.

Mad Love,

G.
